Work Experience

Reformed IT, Derby I  Digital Marketer I  September 2020 – March 2024

Nearing the end of 2020, I landed my first full time job with Reformed IT as a Digital Marketer. Reformed IT is an IT company based in Belper, Derby, who supply IT support and services to clients. It is a fairly small business with a support team of 10-15 people with me as their marketing team.

My role at Reformed IT consisted of many responsibilities such as:

Social media managing: Being a digital marketer meant I was in charge of the companies Social media pages, which included: LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube. I’d plan posts throughout the week promoting the companies services such as guidance regarding IT and Cyber Security.

Video Production: Seen mentioned above, I managed the companies YouTube channel. As one of my strongest talents, I enjoyed creating video content, which was typically animations with voiceovers. These videos would be informational, with hints and tips, guides and IT industry news. As time had passed since developing the channel, all the videos have amounted to almost 100,000 views in total.

Graphic Design: For social media, I’ve previously had to create graphics for specific posts. For this, I’d use Adobe Photoshop, where I can create a visual graphic to make the social media post more eye-catching and engaging. This is another part of my role I enjoyed as it allowed me to explore my creativeness within design software.

Creative and Promotional writing: A major aspect of my role consisted of writing. I’d do this primarily for every aspect of my job. This covered blog posts, video scripts, social media posts and even a monthly newsletter that would get sent out to our clients. This is one of my skills I believe has improved significantly since I started as it’s something I do effortlessly in everyday work life.

Website creation and management: Around the start of 2021, I was handed the vital task of re-building the company’s website. Whilst it was extensive and challenging, it took a couple months to ensure the new rebranded website was impeccable. A well formatted website is crucial as it’s the main attraction for potentially new clients. The majority of new clients find Reformed IT through the website therefore it needed to be striking and informative, as well as simple for easy navigation. I completed this task independently. Both me and my manager were pleased with how it resulted. However, to this day I am always working on the website, creating new and updated pages as well as making sure everything is running smoothly. You can view the Reformed IT website here.

Spondon Liberal Club, Derby  I  Bartender  I  April 2019 – September 2020

For just over a year, I worked part-time as a bartender in a busy social club. Here, I served customers and performed other duties such as collecting glasses and making sure the club was clean and a safe environment for people to enjoy.

This job helped me develop skills such as communication. I have became a lot more confident when talking to people of all ages and backgrounds as I was happy to approach customers and serve them.

Midlands Bar Hire, Derby  I  Freelance video production  I  March/April 2020

I completed a video production job for a local business. They wanted a promotional video for their mobile bar hire company. I was commissioned to storyboard and film a promotional business video for their company.

After filming on location, I then used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the chosen footage into a one-minute promotional video.

Adaptive Web Ltd, Derby  I  Work experience  I  July 2018

I completed a week of work experience with Adaptive Web Ltd, which is a company that creates websites. As part of a work placement, I created a promotional video for the company website, showing off the offices and working area.

By doing this, I planned, filmed, and edited the video to produce the final version. I used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the footage.
